Class 9-Chepter-1, All Examples and Solutions
Class 9-Chepter-1, All Example-1.
Are the following statements true or false? Give reasons for your answers.
(i) Every whole number is a natural number.
(ii) Every integer is a rational number.
(iii) Every rational number is an integer.
Solution :
(i) False, because zero is a whole number but not a natural number.
(ii) True, because every integer m can be expressed in the form $m/1$ , so it is a rational number.
(iii) False, because fraction numbers is not an integer such as $3/5$.
Class 9-Chepter-1, All Example-2.
Find five rational numbers between 1 and 2.
Solution :
if we multiply 5+1=6 with numerator and denumerator then it bcomes-
$$1/1={{6}}/{6}$$,
$$2/1={{12}}/{6}$$
So, The rational numbers between 1 and 2 are $7/6$,$8/6$,$9/6$,$10/6$and$11/6$.
